Learning Path

A learning path is a structured, sequenced series of courses, modules, and activities designed to take a learner from a defined starting point to a specific competency or role outcome. Rather than offering a flat catalogue, a learning path gives learners a clear, ordered route. Learning paths can be role-based (e.g. "new sales rep onboarding"), skill-based (e.g. "data analysis fundamentals"), or compliance-based. They often include prerequisites, so later modules unlock only after earlier ones are completed, and may branch based on assessment results or job role. When combined with adaptive or personalised learning, paths adjust automatically to what each learner already knows. Inside an LMS, a learning path centralises progress tracking, making it easy for managers to see how far each person has advanced toward a goal. Business impact: Learning paths turn scattered content into a guided journey, improving completion and time-to-competency by showing learners exactly what to do next and why.
