Rubric

A rubric is a scoring guide that breaks an assessment down into specific criteria, with descriptions of what each level of performance looks like for each criterion. By making expectations explicit, rubrics improve consistency and fairness when grading subjective work such as essays, projects and presentations, and they speed up marking. Shared with learners in advance, rubrics also act as a learning tool, clarifying exactly what good work involves and guiding self-assessment. In Moodle, rubrics and marking guides are built-in advanced grading methods that attach to assignments, helping teachers give structured, criteria-based feedback at scale.
