Question Bank

A question bank is a centralised repository where quiz and assessment questions are created, categorised and stored for reuse across multiple quizzes and courses. In Moodle, the question bank lets teachers organise questions into categories, tag them, and draw from them when building quizzes — including random questions, which pull a different selection for each learner to reduce cheating. It supports many question types: multiple choice, true/false, short answer, matching, numerical, drag-and-drop and essay. A well-maintained question bank saves enormous time, ensures consistency across assessments, and makes it easy to build large, varied and secure exams. It is the backbone of scalable online testing, allowing a single curated set of questions to power assessments year after year.
