Enrolment Methods

Enrolment methods are the different ways learners are given access to a course in an LMS. In Moodle the main options are manual enrolment (an admin or teacher adds users directly), self-enrolment (learners join themselves, optionally with an enrolment key), cohort sync (a whole group is enrolled and kept in sync automatically), and external syncs such as LDAP, database or payment-gateway enrolment for paid courses. Each course can combine several methods, and each can be configured with role, duration and start-date settings. Choosing the right enrolment methods is key to managing access cleanly, especially at scale.
