Gagné's Nine Events of Instruction is a classic instructional-design model outlining a sequence of teaching steps that support effective learning. The nine events are: gain attention, inform learners of the objective, stimulate recall of prior learning, present the content, provide learning guidance, elicit performance (practice), provide feedback, assess performance, and enhance retention and transfer. Developed by Robert Gagné, the model gives course designers a practical, repeatable structure for building lessons that move learners from attention through to lasting mastery. It is widely applied in both classroom and eLearning design to ensure no critical step in the learning process is skipped.
